Elegant, understated and exceptionally versatile, the Lady Clare Black Screened Continental Placemats bring classic English style to both traditional and contemporary table settings.
The rich solid black finish creates a sophisticated foundation for fine china, glassware and decorative table linens. Each placemat is finished with hand-gilded edges, adding a subtle touch of gold and creating the refined appearance for which Lady Clare is known.
Part of the Lady Clare Screened Collection, these Continental Placemats are especially versatile because their simple design complements both patterned and solid-color dinnerware without competing with it. The timeless combination of black and gold works beautifully for everyday dining, dinner parties and formal entertaining.
Since 1932, Lady Clare has been creating fine English lacquered placemats, tablemats, coasters and decorative home accessories. The Black Screened Collection continues that tradition with its combination of timeless design, practical durability and British craftsmanship.
The hard-wearing lacquered surface is heat resistant to 150°C / 300°F, while the soft green felt/flock backing helps protect tables and fine furniture. Lady Clare's distinctive curved edges help reduce damage during everyday use and prolong the life of the placemats.
Measuring approximately 15.5 × 11.5 inches, the generous Continental size provides ample room for a dinner plate, flatware and glassware, making these larger placemats ideal for complete place settings, dinner parties and formal entertaining.
Their classic black finish makes them equally attractive in a formal dining room, English country house, traditional interior or sophisticated contemporary home.
Pair them with white or ivory china for a striking monochromatic setting, richly patterned dinnerware for a more traditional table, or gold-toned flatware and accessories for an elegant black-and-gold presentation.
Pair them with coordinating Lady Clare Black Screened Coasters and Tablemats to create a complete table setting.
