Bring the timeless elegance of Chinoiserie into your home with the Lady Clare Chinese Flowers Wastebasket. Featuring beautiful Chinese-inspired floral artwork, this decorative wastepaper bin combines the charm of traditional English interiors with the enduring appeal of Asian-inspired design.
Chinoiserie became fashionable in Britain and Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries as expanding trade with China introduced Europeans to Chinese porcelain, silk, lacquerware and decorative arts. British designers embraced these influences, creating imaginative interpretations of Chinese flowers, birds, landscapes and ornamental motifs.
This decorative tradition became a favorite in elegant English country houses, appearing on wallpaper, furniture, ceramics and decorative accessories. Today, Chinoiserie remains a classic decorating style, admired for its intricate floral patterns, rich colors and timeless sophistication.
The Lady Clare Chinese Flowers Collection celebrates this artistic heritage with beautifully detailed floral designs inspired by traditional Chinese botanical illustrations. The wastebasket provides an elegant decorative accent for a bedroom, study, library, dressing room or home office.
Since 1932, Lady Clare has been recognized for its fine English lacquered placemats, coasters and home accessories. Made in Great Britain, this wastebasket reflects the company's longstanding tradition of decorative artistry and quality craftsmanship.
Its elegant hand-gilded rims add a refined finishing touch, making this wastebasket as attractive as it is practical. Whether placed beside an antique writing desk, in an English country house bedroom or in a Chinoiserie-inspired interior, it brings a distinctive touch of traditional British style.
The Chinese Flowers Wastebasket also makes a thoughtful gift for admirers of Chinoiserie, English decorative arts, botanical illustrations and classic home furnishings.
