Bring the timeless beauty of Chinoiserie into your home with the Lady Clare Chinese Flowers Coasters. This elegant boxed set of six features six different Chinese-inspired floral designs, beautifully displayed against a dramatic Black painted background and finished with traditional hand-gilded edges.
Chinoiserie became especially fashionable in Britain during the 17th and 18th centuries as increasing trade with China introduced Europeans to Chinese porcelain, silk, lacquerware and decorative arts. British designers and craftsmen embraced these influences, creating their own imaginative interpretations of East Asian flowers, landscapes, birds and decorative motifs.
The resulting style became known as Chinoiserie and soon appeared throughout fashionable British interiors on wallpaper, furniture, ceramics and decorative objects. Its combination of intricate imagery, exotic inspiration and rich color has remained an enduring favorite in English interior design.
Lady Clare’s Chinese Flowers Collection celebrates this decorative tradition with six different floral designs. The colorful flowers stand out beautifully against the deep Black painted background, while elegant hand-gilded edges provide a sophisticated finishing touch.
Since 1932, Lady Clare has been known for creating fine English lacquered placemats, coasters and home accessories. These Chinese Flowers Coasters are part of Lady Clare’s Traditional Collection, combining decorative artistry with traditional British craftsmanship and a durable lacquered finish.
The hard-wearing surface is heat resistant to 150°C (300°F), making the coasters suitable for both hot and cold beverages. Lady Clare’s distinctive curved edges help reduce damage during use and prolong the life of the coasters, while the soft green felt backing helps protect tables and other furniture surfaces.
Measuring approximately 4.25 × 3.5 inches, these lacquered coasters are ideal for coffee and tea cups, wine glasses, cocktails and everyday drinks.
Presented in a gift box, the Lady Clare Chinese Flowers Coasters make a distinctive gift for Chinoiserie enthusiasts, Anglophiles, gardeners, floral-art lovers and anyone who appreciates traditional English interiors and decorative arts.
Pair them with coordinating Lady Clare Chinese Flowers Continental Placemats, Small Placemats and Tablemats to create an elegant Chinoiserie-inspired table setting.
