Bring the beauty of classic botanical illustration to your dining table with the Lady Clare Hooker Fruit Continental Placemats. This elegant boxed set of four features beautifully detailed fruit artwork, presented against a rich Bottle Green painted background and finished with traditional hand-gilded edges.
The Hooker Fruit Collection draws inspiration from the great tradition of British botanical and natural history illustration, when artists and botanists documented fruits, flowers and plants in extraordinary detail. Originally created to record and study the natural world, these illustrations also became admired as beautiful works of art.
Fruit has long been a favorite subject of botanical artists. Apples, pears, berries and other fruits offered an extraordinary variety of shapes, colors and textures, allowing illustrators to combine careful observation of nature with beautiful composition and color.
Botanical prints eventually became a familiar decorative element in English Country Houses, country cottages, libraries, garden rooms and traditional interiors. Their timeless appeal makes the Hooker Fruit Collection equally at home in classic and contemporary settings.
Lady Clare’s Hooker Fruit Collection celebrates this tradition with detailed botanical fruit artwork. The colorful designs stand out beautifully against the deep Bottle Green painted background, while elegant hand-gilded edges provide the refined finishing touch associated with Lady Clare’s Traditional Collection.
Since 1932, Lady Clare has been known for creating fine English lacquered placemats, tablemats, coasters and decorative home accessories. Made in Great Britain, the Hooker Fruit Continental Placemats combine classic botanical imagery with the traditional craftsmanship and timeless British styling for which Lady Clare is renowned.
Their generous Continental size makes these placemats ideal for both formal dining and relaxed entertaining. Measuring approximately 15.5 × 11.5 inches, each mat provides ample room for a dinner plate, flatware and glassware while allowing the beautiful botanical artwork to remain visible.
The hard-wearing, heat-resistant lacquered surface helps protect your dining table during everyday use, while the soft green felt/flock backing helps protect the furniture beneath. Lady Clare’s distinctive curved edges are designed to help reduce damage during use and prolong the life of the mats.
Their classic botanical character makes the Lady Clare Hooker Fruit Continental Placemats especially attractive in an English Country House, country cottage, traditional kitchen, dining room, breakfast room, garden room or conservatory.
Presented in a gift box, they make a distinctive gift for a gardener, botanical art enthusiast, fruit lover, natural history collector or anyone who appreciates traditional English country style.
